Village of Matteson
Since 1990, Matteson, Illinois has experienced significant growth due to the expansion of Chicago suburbs, increased traffic, and commuter rail service from Metra.
In the last decade, the discipline of urban design has moved to the forefront of planning practice, and is now seen as one of the most critical components of urban redevelopment. PDI principals hold over five national awards for their urban design and redevelopment projects, from such organizations as the American Institute of Architects, Progressive Architecture and the Congress of New Urbanism.

Many suburbs and older urban areas use PDI's urban design concepts as a tool for redevelopment, which includes the replacement of older, undervalued housing and second-generation retail and office projects. The designs link roads, landscapes and mixed uses into a high-value development pattern.
