![]() M.Arch., AIA Brian Peterson, PDI Principal, has more than 15 years of experience in architecture and urban design. He has worked on a variety of urban development projects in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa. His work on downtown revitalization, including architectural and urban design guidelines, has been awarded. Mr. Peterson served as Project Manager for several major neighborhood planning projects, including new urbanist concepts and a fiscal impact analysis for Prairie Heights in Davenport, IA; a redevelopment plan for the Historic Downtown in Matteson, IL; and a downtown revitalization plan for La Crosse, WI. Project work included neighborhood site plans, transportation and circulation systems (including transit linkages), parks and open space features, and mixed-use development concepts. He was also Project Manager for the West Main Street Corridor Plan in Sun Prairie, WI which includes a Regulating Plan with a Form-Based Block Code and Design Guidelines. Mr. Peterson also worked on a variety of streetscape projects, including improvements to the Havenwoods neighborhood in Milwaukee, and the lakefront in the Village of Fontana, WI. He also provided architectural building concepts for the Geneva National golf course in Lake Geneva, WI. He worked on several urban architectural projects, including a triangular site in downtown Milwaukee's Park East Corridor which features a five-story building that houses retail, condos, and lofts. He managed another Milwaukee project that involved Live/Work lofts in an emerging neighborhood. In addition, he prepared architectural renderings for developers planning a mixed-use project in downtown Oconomowoc, WI. Previous to working at PDI, Mr. Peterson also held the position of Campus Architect in the Department of Planning and Construction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison). He authored a campus design plan to address facility needs, architectural issues, and future campus growth. Mr. Peterson earned a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), and has also studied architecture abroad at Oxford Polytechnic in England, and Ecole Special D'Architecture in France. Mr. Peterson is an adjunct professor at UWM where he teaches urban design and architecture. He also taught urban design and architecture studies in the Department of Landscape Architecture at UW-Madison.
