While planning the environmental conservation subdivisions on these two adjacent sites, PDI worked with the developer to enhance the natural beauty of the sites and to preserve significant open space areas.

Careful attention to building locations and lot sizes aided in the creation of a "large lot feel," while maintaining over 50% of the land as common open space.

Nearly all homesites are adjacent to an environmental feature; a system of bicycle and nature trails link open areas and surrounding neighborhoods. Wild flowers, tall grass meadows, and fruit trees enhance natural areas.

PDI worked with Cedarburg Science to develop a stewardship plan for the maintenance of the common land, the first plan of its type in the City of Mequon.
