PDI worked with the developer and Village staff to create an environmental conservation subdivision that preserves rural character, protects natural amenities, and provides a realistic housing density for the developer.

The homes are clustered around public green spaces to preserve open land and scenic views; a pedestrian trail sytem is integrated throughout the site. The design also employs narrow roads, storm water management techniques, and allows for links to neighboring farms.

While developing this plan, PDI generated a comparative analysis to demonstrate the plan's advantages over other conservation subdivision designs. The analysis demonstrated that PDI's proposed plan conserved more usable land, included more scenic views, and created a stronger relationship between new homes and surrounding environmental features.
