Fond du Lac and North Public Participation

Client
City of Milwaukee

Project
An extensive public involvement strategy was developed for PDI's Neighborhood Plan in the central City neighborhood around Fond du Lac and North Avenues. Public input was integral to the planning process, and the plan is now used as a model for future planning efforts in the City.

Gathering Community Input
In developing the plan, PDI worked closely with City staff and officials. The planning efforts also included significant input from residents and key community groups including the North Avenue Community Development Corporation, the 30th Street Industrial Corridor Corporation, and the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation.

A variety of participation techniques were employed, including
  • Confidential stakeholder interviews
  • Household surveys
  • Community/image preference survey
  • Focus groups with public agencies
  • Focus groups with developers
  • Focus groups with residents
  • Multiple charrettes/workshops
  • Video documentation
  • Open House
