Town of Summit
Project
PDI prepared well-defined design guidelines for the Town of Summit to help the community preserve it's strong rural character.
Growth and Development
The guidelines were prepared in response to the Town's concerns about major growth along an interstate highway that borders Summit.
Reviewing New Proposals
The guidelines give the Town a clear set of standards to use when reviewing new proposals for commercial, industrial, institutional, mixed-use and multi-family developments. The guidelines clearly state design principles required to preserve small community character.
Illustrated Standards
Graphic illustrations of desirable projects are also included to convey standards in an easy-to-understand
style.
Commercial Design Guidelines
Guidelines for business development address elements such as building placement and composition, parking strategies, signage, lighting, glazing, landscaping, mixed-uses, stormwater, vehicular circulation, pedestrian activity, and public gathering spaces.
Residential Design Guidelines
For residential developments, the guidelines set standards for multifamily housing, gateways, signage, building composition and massing, circulation, road buffers, open spaces, trails, and stormwater.
