City of Milwaukee Project PDI assisted a collaborative effort between the City of Milwaukee and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) to create a new clustered home development in a Milwaukee central city neighborhood. Designing and building new homes in clusters increases the value of surrounding properties, in addition to fostering a sense of community. Determining New Housing Sites PDI mapped parcel ownership and surveyed each property in the study area to determine new development sites for housing. This process required detailed field inspections of streets and blocks to determine the size, location, and character of each cluster. Implementation and Success Implementation of the plan resulted in 120 new homes being buillt, and the renovation of 100 existing homes. The new homes are affordable and designed to complement the architecture of existing homes. PDI's work was instrumental in developing market investment opportunities and in supporting the establishment of a tax incremental financing (TIF) district. |
